Steven D. Cox M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S.
Steven D. Cox M.D. has managed a busy general surgical practice in Lancaster, Ohio since 1984. He received his MD degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1979. He completed a general surgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina in 1984, and moved back to Ohio. His practice included a wide variety of major and minor surgical procedures, as well as a busy schedule of upper endoscopies and colonoscopies. In the mid-1990s, he and Joyce Cox CNP (Certified Nurse Practitioner) became interested in the treatment of varicose and spider veins, using minimally invasive vein stripping technique, as well as the use of lasers and sclerotherapy for smaller veins. In 2004, they restricted the practice to office procedures and endoscopies, moving the practice to its present location on Monmouth Street. During the same time period, Dr. Cox learned the new technique of Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) for varicose veins, which replaced vein stripping as the standard of care for varicose veins. Dr. Cox has now performed hundreds of these procedures in the office under local anesthesia, with extremely gratifying results.

Dr. Cox received certification from the American Board of Surgery in 1986, and has recertified twice, the last time in 2004. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and a member of the AMA and Fairfield Academy of Medicine, as well as numerous other professional organizations. He serves as Treasurer of the Lancaster Festival Board, as well as President of the River View Surgery Center Board.
